Alphabets recognition activities for kids
As a mother, I understand the concern about teaching children letter or alphabets recognition. Initially it's a However, these activities can make your toddler excited about alphabets recognition while also improving their eye and hand coordination. Here are some alphabet recognition games and activities that you can try at home.

When should we start teaching letters recognition and their sounds to our child?

While I started teaching my child letter recognition when she was 24 months old. I gave her alphabet puzzles, magnetic letters, handmade sponge letters (you further use it for letter stamping activity) and I simply told her about the letter with sounds. She quickly grasped and started recognizing those letters. I understand that teaching children can be hectic and sometimes irritating, especially for first-time moms.

Here are some alphabet recognition games and activities that you can try at home.

🍓You can take any magazine or book and sit with your child. First, show them any letter like A or C and then ask them if they can help you find letter A on this page. You can also help them initially and later they will do it themselves.

🍓 To do this activity, you will need printouts of alphabets. You can get free printouts by clicking here. Take cotton balls and any liquid color and sit with your child. Dip cotton balls in color and drag them from top to bottom on each letter.”

🍓 Take a whiteboard, marker and magnetic letters. Write letters on one side of the board and paste the same letter to another side randomly. Then ask your child to match them.

🍓 To play this game, you will need a zip lock bag, rice or lentils (or anything you are comfortable with), and letters. Put rice and letters in the zip lock bag, lock it, and shake it. Then ask your child to pick any letter and tell you which letter it is.

🍓 To play this activity, you will need a letter chart. Click image to get free printable of letter chart. Once you have your chart, hide letters inside or outside the house and ask your child to find the letter and place it on the chart. This is a fun game that can help your child learn letters and their sounds while also improving their fine motor skills! 👍
🍓 Take any keyboard, typewriter, or laptop and ask your child to tell you a letter (such as A or D). You can also ask them to touch the letter and it will show up on the computer screen. This can be a fun way to teach letters.
🍓Take any type of pasta you have at home, such as penne or spaghetti, and make letters with it along with your child.
🍓 Take a tray or use bathtub and fill it with colored water (mix any liquid color with water and put letters inside the tray now, ask your child to take out a specific letter (for example, tell them to take out letter B).

🍓 To Create print proof environment with word wall cards. I know you are wondering what word wall card is. click here to get free wall cards.

A word wall is a collection of words displayed in large visible letters on a wall, bulletin board, or other display surface in a classroom. The wall is designed to be an interactive tool for students and contains an array of words that can be used during writing and reading. In early elementary classrooms, the words on the wall are high frequency words that children are learning to read and write also

• So, you can start by using alphabet header cards that are large and square with a simple border and large alphabets. In this way your child will start focusing on what's important- the letters. Every word card contains a word in a large, clear, simple font along with a simple illustration that is also clear and simple too.

🍓 Alphabet books are an excellent way for children to learn their ABCs as they provide opportunities for children to listen, see, say, and write. Alphabet books come in a sequence so that children can learn their letters in order. Children not only learn their alphabets but also learn to identify pictures that are in the book. Therefore, it’s a good idea to make it a habit to read books along with your child.
